Technical, organizational and policy levers and obstacles in promoting agroecology in the Mediterranean area
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt Cairo, 17th-18th December 2024.
CIHEAM Montpellier in partnership with ARC Egypt.
Over the past three years, SupMed has designed and developed strategies for adapting to climate change in Egypt and Lebanon. More than 320 farmers, along with a hundred policymakers and local stakeholders, have been involved in the co-creation of these strategies, focusing on the implementation of agroecological measures. These measures aim to promote sustainable and resilient agricultural systems in the Bekaa Valley and Luxor Governorate.
This co-design experience centered around the promotion of agroecology will be shared and discussed during an experience-sharing seminar to be held on December 17 and 18 in Cairo. The event will be organized under the auspices of the Ministers of Agriculture of Lebanon, Egypt, and Greece, in partnership with ARC Egypt.
Delegations from several Mediterranean countries will also be present, including Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Greece, France, Egypt, and Lebanon.
Farmers, cooperatives, and associations benefiting from the project will participate in the discussions and showcase their agroecological products during a market event, where traders and dealers will be invited to discuss the marketing opportunities for these products.
